The UN Security Council launched a debate on a draft decision submitted by France on Monday and provides for an extension for another year of its peacekeeping order in southern Lebanon in view of a gradual retirement. However, according to reports, Israel and the United States are opposed to extending the order of the United Nations Temporary Power in Lebanon (Finul), which has been developed along the border with Israel since 1978. “We do not comment on the UN Council.” Asked about the US position in terms of the future of the power of the blue, the US Foreign Ministry spokesman – the right to veto the Security Council – did not respond.
