At least 10 dead and 25 injured in train collision in India

At least 10 people have been killed and 25 injured in a train accident in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, a senior local government official said.

The accident occurred when two trains collided with each other, according to a railway official. Rescue teams have rushed to the spot, near Vizianagaram.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Ish Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked for as many ambulances as possible to be sent from Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli, the two districts closest to Vizianagaram. He also directed to coordinate government operations so that immediate steps are taken to rescue and treat the injured.
