At least 11 dead in Syria from Kurdish attack on pro-Turkish fighters

Kurdish forces in Syria launched an attack on Turkish-backed militants in the north of the country on Monday, killing at least 11 people, including civilians, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which controls much of northeastern Syria, launched attacks against Turkish-backed fighters in the Ras al-Ain region, the London-based non-governmental organization said but maintains a wide network of sources in Syria. “A woman, her two children and a man were killed in the shelling of a military facility used by Ankara-backed (rebel) organizations” that are active in (illegal) people-trafficking operations to Turkey, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. According to the same source, “seven fighters of the pro-Turkish forces were killed in a raid by special forces” of the SDF in a nearby village.
