At least 12 people have been killed in Louisiana, after the passage of Cyclone Aida.
Many of them died due to the inhalation of carbon monoxide by the generators they use to have electricity. Because of this, Edwards warned that the death toll could rise.
More than 718,500 households in Louisiana still do not have electricity.
The two new deaths are from tenants of a Louisiana nursing home who were taken to a warehouse during the hurricane. The state has now launched an investigation into their living conditions there, as a total of six residents of the nursing home have lost their lives so far.
New York and New Jersey are among the four states in the northern part of the USA most affected by Aida, with residents still trying to clear the rubble. At least 46 people have been killed in and around New York, while six are still missing in New Jersey.
The managing company of the New York subway, which was paralyzed on Wednesday night due to the floods caused by the heavy rains, promised to have restored some of the lines before Tuesday, when the working week begins, after the holiday on Monday.
Biden will visit the states of New York and New Jersey on Tuesday.
