At least 180 companies accused of abusive telemarketing will have their services suspended

At least 180 companies, which call directly to the consumer or that serve as outsourced call centers, entered the crosshairs of the Secretary of Consumer Protection and two procons across the country due to abusive telemarketing .

O Justice ministry will publish on Official Diary of the Union this Monday (18) a precautionary measure that suspends services and gives companies ten days to defend themselves.

Contact by telemarketing is considered abusive whenever a company calls at inappropriate times or repeatedly to the consumer.

These are calls with various requests: billing notice, offer of consigned credit or sale of cars, for example. Often, the data is obtained clandestinely and the call ends up on the cell phone even from those who have no business relationship with the company.

The disturbed person even tries to avoid receiving the call, but with the use of robots, there are companies that change their number frequently, which prevents identification.

Between January 2019 and June 2022, the National Consumer Defense Information System (SINDEC) registered 6,085 complaints, according to the government. already the website consumer.gov.br received 8,462 complaints.

The Ombudsman of the Department of Consumer Protection and Defense even registered a complaint from an elderly man who said he received more than 3,000 calls on his five cell phone numbers.
