Survey of CNN made with data from the National Federation of Startups and the federal government shows that at least 20 innovative companies in Brazil provide aid to Ukraine during the war against Russia.
The support takes place both in the distribution of drinking water and in the training of immigrants to work in the Brazilian job market. All startups highlighted the help of the federal government to support the European country.
Earlier this week, a Brazilian Air Force (FAB) plane transported 50 water purification equipment developed by Brazilian startup PWTech. In practice, the equipment will help more than 10,000 Ukrainians.
“Initially, the objective was to guarantee safe drinking water in remote regions of Brazil. Since last year, however, the equipment has become a reference in the contingency of calamity situations around the world, the most recent in Eastern Europe”, says the CEO of PWTech, Fernando Silva.
Also with a humanitarian approach, the Brazilian platform VVolunteer assists provides voluntary help to Ukrainians who had to leave their cities due to the confrontation. The United Nations (UN) estimates that more than 4 million Ukrainians have already left the country fleeing the war, while another 6 million have internally displaced.
The Brazilian startup Toti Diversidade seeks to qualify immigrants who arrive in Brazil and, consequently, integrate them into the job market. Currently, the organization operates in 19 Brazilian states, and helps more than 400 immigrants – most of them from Ukraine.
According to the founder of Toti Diversidade, Caio Rodrigues, the startup manages to employ more than 85% of all immigrants who are part of the program.
“Our focus is to prepare immigrants for the Brazilian job market, and the focus is always on technology-oriented jobs. There are 400 people helped directly and more than 800 indirectly, including family members of refugees,” said Rodrigues.
