At least 21 dead in Dominican Republic from heavy rains

Heavy rains hit the Dominican Republic the last 48 hourswith as a result of which at least 21 people lost their livesbetween them 3 minorsthe authorities announced yesterday, Sunday.

Four of the people who lost their lives in separate incidents it was US citizens and others three Haitian nationals, according to the Center for Emergency Operations (COE). Almost all of the country’s provinces (30 out of 32) remained on alert yesterday, according to the authorities.

Nine of the 21 deaths were recorded his evening Saturday, when a wall collapsed onto vehicles on February 27 Avenue, one of its main thoroughfares Santo Domingo.

The Ministry of Public Works announced that an “investigation” is being conducted into this incident.
