The Tunisian coast guard reported this Thursday (02) that it recovered the bodies of 27 African immigrants after the sinking of two boats used in an attempt to cross the Mediterranean Sea towards Europe.
The boats sank off the coast of the city of Sfax, a departure point often used by African immigrants.
Last month, the Tunisian coast guard had recovered the bodies of about 30 other migrants in two separate accidents. In both cases, the boats also sank while trying to reach Europe.
The Tunisian national guard reported that the country’s coast guard rescued 87 people who were on the two vessels that departed Sfax.
