At least 30 dead after shipwreck with migrants in southern Italy

At least 30 people died in a wreck boat carrying migrants off the eastern coast of Calabria in Italyas reported on Sunday morning by several Italian news agencies.

About 27 bodies were found on the shores of Stecato di Cutro, a seaside resort in the province of Crotona, while others were found in the sea, ANSA reported, adding that three dead were found in the water. According to ANSA, the searches continued in difficult conditions as there is rough seas in the area.

The Adnkronos news agency reported that more than 100 people were on board the boat carrying the migrants and that around 50 had been rescued. The boat, which carried Immigrants from Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan, crashed into rocks amid bad weather, according to Adnkronos.

According to the AGI agency, among the victims is a baby a few months old.
