The Civil Police of Bahia are investigating a series of murders of homeless residents in the city of Feira de Santana, in the interior of the state. Four people were killed between Wednesday (2) and Friday (4) last week.
At the request of CNN the Bahian police gathered details about the cases, which are being investigated by the Feira de Santana Homicide Police Station.
The first person killed was Diego dos Santos, 34 years old, murdered on Wednesday (2) on Comandante Almiro Street, close to the Bus Terminal. During the attack, a man and a woman who were nearby were also injured. Witnesses reported that two men on a motorcycle approached and opened fire. All of the victims are drug users and live on the streets, according to the Civil Police.
Another death being investigated is that of a man, still unidentified, who was also shot by a firearm. The crime occurred on Rua José Tavares Carneiro, in the Baraúnas neighborhood, on Thursday (3). According to preliminary information, men aboard a vehicle approached the victim, who lived on the streets and was lying on a mattress, and fired several shots.
On Friday (4), two women, still unidentified, were murdered in different parts of the city. One of them was found on Rua Georgina Erisman, after leaving a bar, while the other was killed on Avenida Monsenhor Mario Pessoa. Both were shot at by men in vehicles.
Police are analyzing security camera footage to assist with investigations and determine the motivations behind these crimes.
