At least eight people were killed in a Russian attack on a shopping mall in the Podilskyi district of the Ukrainian capital Kiev, according to the Ukrainian attorney general.
A shopping mall and cars in an adjacent parking lot caught fire after Russian bombings in Kiev’s Podilskyi district, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said late on Sunday, adding that 63 firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze that hit the third and fourth floors of the building.
“As a consequence of the enemy missile attack and the resulting fire, a shopping mall was destroyed, windows of nearby residential buildings and vehicles parked nearby were damaged,” the attorney general said in a post on his Telegram channel.
The Attorney General suggested that the number of casualties could rise, adding that the death toll was based on preliminary information.
Russia denies attacking civilian targets and rejects accusations that it is committing war crimes.
