At least eight people were killed and 26 injured when a bus plunged into a stream in the northern Indian state of Punjab. “Eight people, including a 2-year-old girl, died in today’s accident,” said Shoukat Ahmad Parei, an official of Bathida district where the accident occurred, while briefing the press. According to him, the bus driver had allegedly over-speeded and lost control while crossing a bridge, causing the vehicle to plunge into the stream.
