At least twenty arrests in anti-war protests in Russia

At least 20 people were arrested in Russia on Sunday during protests in several cities against the war in Ukraine, activists said.

Demonstrations were organized in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Vladivostok, the non-governmental organization OVD-Info clarified.

More than 15,000 arrests of anti-war protesters have been reported since the Russian military launched an offensive in Ukraine on February 24, according to the same source.

Some of the participants in the mobilizations have been arrested repeatedly, OVD-Info noted via Telegram. Heavy fines have been imposed.

A campaign is under way to prosecute people involved in anti-war rallies and opposition activists, according to the same Russian NGO, which is reporting at least 37 cases of this nature against 43 people.
