On the night of May 7, a large-scale continental exercise Defender Europe 21 (Defender of Europe-21) started in Europe with artillery firing of high-precision ammunition in Estonia and the landing of soldiers of the 82nd US Airborne Division. This was reported by the press service of the European Command of the US Armed Forces.
Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will also take part in them.
The annual multinational exercise aims to improve readiness and interoperability between the armies of the United States, NATO allies and partner countries.

This year, the focus of the exercise is on the regions around the Black Sea and in the Balkans. To this end, more than 1200 units of the US army have arrived at the ports of the EU countries since March.
In general, maneuvers and drills with the involvement of up to 30,000 troops from dozens of countries over the next few months will be held from Estonia to Morocco: in only 13 countries.
