At the forefront are the scenarios for extending the obligation of vaccinations – By age criteria any decisions

By Dimitris Gatsios

The country continues to move in the … Complexes of the new “Omicron” strain of the pandemic virus and the “Delta” mutation. Record numbers in cases across the country keep the government and experts in a state of constant vigilance, with the Maximos Palace changing course in its strategy, two days before the New Year, in order to face the most contagious mutation since world map entered the vortex of Covid-19. Despite the fact that the next wave of interventions to stop “Omicron” was initially implemented from January 3, the level of cases required immediate action. And for a few hours now … the new level of measures is running, which aims to put embankments in the dynamics of “Omicron” and to shield the health system, which is under constant pressure.

What brings the … package of restrictions that has been implemented since six in the morning, with the first time horizon of implementation on January 17? Catering and entertainment stores will be open until midnight. Alongside:

– There will be a ban on music.

-It is mandatory to use a mask of high protection or double for employees in the restaurant.

-There will be only seated customers, metric distances in the table seats and a limit of six people per table.

-Especially for the New Year’s Eve, all the above measures will apply, with the exception of the opening hours of the catering-entertainment stores, which will be extended until two in the morning.

-In the stadiums, the fullness of vaccinated spectators will be up to 10% of their capacity, with a spectator ceiling of 1,000 people. In case of non-compliance with the measure, the matches will be held behind closed doors.

-In supermarkets and public transport, there will be mandatory use of a mask of high protection or double by employees.

In addition to the specific context of the interventions, in the quiver of the government there are other “weapons” for the shielding of public health. And these … weapons are expected to come to the fore in the coming weeks. In this context, the government staff will re-evaluate the whole framework regarding the mandatory vaccination, as it is a given that it aims to increase the pace of “Freedom” as the most powerful weapon against the pandemic virus. What exactly will the opening of the fan decide? The course of the first, but also the commemorative dose in the community. The pressure on the health system. Who is most at risk of getting sick? And the developments around the “Omicron” executive. If the measure of expansion is implemented, it will probably … focus on age groups (possibly in the first phase of 50 to 60) and not categories of employees.

“The government will obviously re-evaluate the whole framework and the obligation regarding vaccinations in the near future, as we have seen that there is great coverage and desire of the citizens to be vaccinated due to the measures taken for the obligation, as well as for the period of validity of the certificates with the full rights of the vaccinated, as respectively we have seen that in the ages over 60 years, that the booster dose became indirectly mandatory, as there are no privileges of those who are vaccinated and have not done the booster “We believe that this shows the way that we can have corresponding regulations, in order to have the greatest vaccination coverage that protects us from the coronavirus”, noted the Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris, giving the stigma of the government intentions.

Another major question that remains to be answered, however, at the beginning of 2022 is what will be born with the operation of the school units. Government, but also scientists always have as their first goal their normal opening on January 10th. What will be discussed in the coming days and as we approach this landmark date is whether a change in health protocols will be required, although estimates are lacking that the lifelong operation of the training may begin a week later. .
