The European Union is considering imposing secondary penalties in an attempt to prevent third countries from helping Russia to bypass the bloc’s existing punitive measures against Moscow. According to a Bloomberg report, the EU is working on a 19th sanctions package, which, for the time being, is expected to focus mainly on Russians who kidnap children from Ukraine – an issue that touched US President Donald Trump, when he met with a European leaders for the last time. EU Foreign Ministers will meet in Copenhagen later this week and are expected to discuss a series of options, according to the same sources, which have spoken on the condition of anonymity.
