At the UN, Brazil and China call countries into an alliance of “friends for peace” in Ukraine

On the morning of this Friday (27), the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira and the special advisor to the Presidency of the Republic Celso Amorim held, together with representatives of China, a meeting to call on countries to join a diplomatic proposal for the end of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, on the margins of the General Assembly, at the UN headquarters, in New York.

The initiative, named “Friends for Peace”, envisages the establishment of necessary conditions for peace through diplomatic channels — not military channels.

The idea of ​​Brazil is China is to call on as many countries as possible to join the alliance. Representatives from delegations from France, Switzerland, Vietnam, Thailand, Mexico, Ethiopia and Colombia were also present at this Friday’s meeting.
