Atelier du peintre, a dive into the art of Marco Cingolani

The artist Marco Cingolani presents his “artist’s studio” for the first time, an anthology of works, colors, tools and sources of inspiration that tell his story art, the heart of the exhibition Atelier du painterpromoted by Gaburro Galleryand open to the public until September 15, 2024 in the spaces of Via Cerva 25 in Milan.

«I want to show you what I need to paint pictures; such as objects, pigments, brushes, crayons, show you where I sit and where I will make you sit. I want to show you the faces of my best friends, they have often been dead for decades, sometimes for centuries or fortunately alive: when I paint I think of them and I want you to get to know them” he explains Marco Cingolani.

The installation, curated by Studio Cingolani, sets the stage 23 works from different years, who usually, in the studio in via Moscova, surround the painter from Como both for personal pleasure and for inspiration. A place where works are left to “age” like wine. But not only. Because in the Milanese spaces of the Gaburro Gallery Colors and brushes of all sorts will also be on display, as well as Cingolani’s work table, a large bench on wheels, ideal for moving around the studio. The intent of the exhibition is to recreate the heterogeneous and polyphonic structure of the artist’s studio, usually a private environment and now open to the public.

«Marco and I met in 2001, when we hosted the Società Anonima del Colore exhibition in the Gallery. From there, a solid friendship was born. I strongly wanted this latest project to show where Marco works, where he spends his days and nights, where labor and lightness, joy and suffering alternate. Study is the form of his mind, of his thoughts, his energy. I always enjoy telling people that one thing unites us – we are both believers – while one thing divides us: Marco says he always makes the same mistakes, while I don’t! I’m always making new ones. Certainly, his creative process emerges in this exhibition, made up of these continuous mistakes and second thoughts, but also of dreams and desires » comments Giorgio Gaburro.
