The Atlas Intel research institute projects Javier Milei’s victory in the second round of elections in Argentina with 52% of valid votes against 48% for Sergio Massa.
According to Andrei Roman, president of the institute, the difference between the two is decreasing and has already reached seven points in previous internal surveys. Atlas was the only research institute that predicted Massa’s victory in the first round.
“It is not the most likely due to polarization, but it could change until the election. The difference in favor of Milei is small enough for Massa to win by a narrow margin,” Roman told CNN .
According to him, Milei’s leadership is explained by the poor performance of the Peronist government, which represents an economic disaster. Massa is the economy minister. His campaign, however, has been deconstructing Milei’s figure, showing the candidate as psychologically out of control.
According to the Atlas survey, Argentines point to Milei as the candidate most prepared to combat violence, reduce corruption and generate jobs.
Massa, on the other hand, is the most capable of defending democratic institutions and human rights – not least because of Milei’s controversial statements in defense of Argentina’s military dictatorship.
