Attack and kidnapping of farmers by gang members in Nigeria – nine dead

Nine farmers were killed and about 15 others were abducted Friday by gang members in the state of Zamphara, northwestern Nigeria, according to a local official and testimonies cited by the French News Agency (AFP). “Robbers attacked the farmers and killed eight of them,” Yahaja Giari Babubakar, commander of the Talata area, told AFP where the attack took place. “The perpetrators of the attack kidnapped about 15 others,” he added, adding that the kidnappers have not disclosed their demands. Armed Forces on motorcycles launched an attack on farmers working in the fields outside the village of Jangbebe.
