At least one woman has died after a “hostile warplane” strike in southern Lebanon on a house, according to a representative of the Jabal Amal hospital in the Lebanese city of Tire and the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA).
The attack took place about 20 kilometers north of Lebanon’s border with Israel.
The woman was part of a group of at least 10 people who were injured.
Ambulances transported the injured civilians to hospitals in the Lebanese city of Tire, NNA reported on Thursday (13).
According to the Lebanese news agency, there is a strong aerial presence of “enemy” aircraft in the country.
Exchanges of hostilities between Israeli forces and Hezbollah have intensified since Tuesday night (11), when Israel struck a building in Jwaya, in southern Lebanon.
The offensive killed four Hezbollah militants, including Talib Abdalla, a senior commander.
On Wednesday (12) and this Thursday (13) there were some of the biggest attacks and counterattacks since hostilities began between Hezbollah and Israel on October 8, one day after the start of the war in Gaza.
A CNN has reached out to the Israel Defense Forces for comment.
Earlier on Thursday, the Israeli army said 40 rockets were fired into northern Israel and the occupied Golan Heights, causing at least ten fires.
The rockets were launched from northern Lebanon. Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for the attack.
The group said it struck six Israeli military barracks using Katyusha and Falaq rockets and used three drones. Hezbollah said it hit the bases with drones.
Thursday’s launches come after more than 200 rockets were fired from Lebanon into Israel on Wednesday (12), according to the IDF.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for some of Wednesday’s shooting, noting that it was in response to an assassination carried out by the IDF in southern Lebanon.
