Iran will respond immediately and decisively if their nuclear facilities are attacked, which would lead to a “total war in the region,” Tehran Foreign Minister to Al Jazeera told an interview on Friday (31) .
An attack from Israel and the US to Iranian nuclear facilities would be “one of the biggest historical errors the US could make,” said Araqchi Abbas.
The concerns increased that US President Donald Trump could, in his second term, give power to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities and further harden the US sanctions on his oil industry .
These concerns could lead Tehran to get involved in negotiations with the Trump administration about the destination of its rapid advance nuclear program.
Araqchi suggested that the United States could release Iranian funds blocked as a first stage of confidence construction between the two countries.
“Iranian assets and funds were frozen at various points by the US (which) did not fulfill their previous promises (to release them). These things can be done by the US government to bring confidence between us, ”said Araqchi.
In 2018, then -President Trump denied the 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and a group of world powers and US -harsh reimpts as part of its “maximum pressure” policy against the country.
In response, Tehran violated the agreement in many ways, including accelerating its uranium enrichment.
Trump promised to return to the policy he adopted in his previous term, which sought to use economic pressure to force the country to negotiate a nuclear program agreement, ballistic missile program and regional activities.
