Earlier on Friday, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea tweeted that he was going to announce details of a large-scale Houthi operation “deep” in Saudi Arabia.
Iran’s Houthi allies, who have been fighting the Saudi-led coalition for the past seven years, have fired rockets at Aramco facilities in Jeddah and drones at the Ras Tanura and Radih refineries, the Saudi military spokesman said. He added that the attacks also targeted “vital facilities” in the capital, Riyadh.
Saudi state media had earlier reported that a series of drone strikes and rockets by the Houthis had been stopped by coalition forces.
Saudi Arabia’s air defenses also intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired at the port city of Jazan, causing a limited and controlled fire at an electricity distribution unit, state media reported.
Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil exporter, said earlier this week that it would not be responsible for any disruptions in oil supplies to world markets as a result of the Houthi attacks that have intensified over the past three weeks.
