Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said today that the attacks on Israeli fans in Amsterdam were “appalling” and a sign of growing anti-Semitism in the country. “I am ashamed of what happened in the Netherlands,” Schoof told reporters on the sidelines of a summit of European Union leaders in Budapest. “It was a scary night,” he noted. “We will not tolerate it (…) We will bring the perpetrators to justice,” he added. The head of the Dutch government said he would leave the Summit early this afternoon to return to Amsterdam.
