A prosecutor-general was assaulted this Monday (20) by a colleague inside the City Hall of Registro, in the interior of Sao Paulo where both work.
In a video that circulates on social media, Demétrius Oliveira de Macedo appears throwing punches at Gabriela Samadello Monteiro de Barros, 39, who is lying on the ground. The recording also shows that a second employee is pushed against a door while trying to contain the man.
Still on the recording, Macedo can be heard using profanity against the attorney general.
THE CNN had access to the entirety of the video, but decided not to show it in full due to the violence of the images.
In the incident report obtained by the CNN Gabriela narrates that, around 4:50 pm on Monday, Macedo left her room and came towards the deponent, elbowing her in the head region and throwing her against the wall.
The municipal prosecutor followed with punches against the professional, who fell to the ground.
After a series of aggressions, a servant locked the victim in her room to protect her. A moment later, two workers arrived at the scene to contain the suspect after hearing Gabriela’s screams.

To the Civil Police of DEINTER 6 – Santos, the attorney general reported that the suspect had been, for a few months, having a “gross attitude” with another employee of the sector, who sought out Gabriela to denounce Macedo’s “improper” behavior.
“The deponent also noted that he had been behaving impolitely, hostile in recent months, did not talk to anyone and only closed himself in his office during office hours,” the statement reads.
Also according to the bulletin, Gabriela tried to talk to Macedo, who responded harshly and expelled her from the place.
In view of the events, in addition to the fact that the other employee said she was “afraid of working”, the attorney general filed a proposal for a disciplinary administrative procedure. On Monday, a publication in the Official Gazette of the Municipality reported that a commission had been formed to investigate the facts.
“The deponent believes that for this reason Demetrius assaulted her”, concludes the report.
In a note sent to CNN , the Civil Police informs that the case was registered as a bodily injury and is being investigated by the Women’s Defense Department of Record. “The unit’s team has already heard the victim and the aggressor and is awaiting the results of the expert examinations for analysis and elucidation of the facts. Details will be preserved to guarantee the autonomy of police work”, says a statement.

As a result of the disclosure of the video, the Prefecture of Registration determined that the prosecutor be preventively suspended for 30 days. The decision appears in an edition of the Official Gazette of the Municipality this Monday.
“At this moment, I come here to express all my indignation against the execrable and abominable act of the prosecutor who physically attacked, in a very violent way, the prosecutor who is head of this area in the City Hall. Everyone who knows me knows how totally I am against all forms of violence, whether physical, moral or symbolic. So I vehemently repudiate the fact that happened,” said the mayor of Registro, Nilton Hirota, in a video.
OAB repudiates the prosecutor’s attitude
“The 54th Subsection of the OAB – Registration, by its Board of Directors and by the Women’s Lawyer Commission, comes to the public to REPUBUTE the inadmissible, cowardly and grotesque physical aggression practiced by the Municipal Prosecutor of Registration DEMETRIUS OLIVEIRA DE MACEDO (registered with OAB/SP No. 305.997 ) against the Municipal Public Prosecutor GABRIELA SAMADELLO MONTEIRO DE BARROS (OAB/SP N° 304-314), which took place yesterday in the premises of the Municipal Public Prosecutor’s Office. It emphasizes that the aforementioned aggression affected the entire Law Firm and society in general, causing permanent indignation. The 54th Subsection will represent the offending Municipal Prosecutor before the Ethics and Discipline Commission, for conduct unworthy of the Law Office, as well as monitor the progress of the police investigation regarding the occurrence. Finally, we offer all solidarity and support to the Municipal Prosecutor and her family.”
