Audi introduced the concept of a unique minivan: 750 km of run, fast charging and a red carpet at the door

Yesterday, April 19, Audi officially unveiled the third concept from the Sphere series – it was a minivan called urbansphere, which is aimed primarily at the Chinese market and is the largest show car of the manufacturer in the history of the brand. The fact is that this model boasts a length of as much as five and a half meters – this is even more than some limousines or the popular luxury Mercedes-Benz V-Class. At the same time, the vehicle is built on the latest PPE platform, so the concept, of course, is completely electric – apparently, the manufacturer does not even plan to use an internal combustion engine.

The Audi urbansphere will conquer the roads thanks to two electric motors that produce a total of 401 horsepower at 690 Nm of torque and all-wheel drive. Although this is clearly excess power for such an electric car, the manufacturer managed to achieve an impressive power reserve on a single charge – 750 kilometers due to power plants and a battery. This is more than most current mass-produced electric cars, plus there is support for fast charging. For example, if you use a 270 kW charger, the car receives a charge for 300 kilometers in just 10 minutes.

The manufacturer also took care of the attractive appearance of the vehicle. On the front panel, the radiator grill, which is simply not needed in this case, was replaced with a stylish LED panel (it can simulate various signals like emergency or turns), a similar backlight is also located on the back of the minivan. The doors also deserve special attention – they are very massive, open in different directions and lack middle pillars. And to make the potential owner get more pleasure from driving, the doors were even equipped with a digital red carpet.

The interior of the concept, as it should be for show cars, is very far from production cars. There are four large captain’s chairs, a huge number of displays for watching movies during the trip, there are even VR helmets, support for voice commands and gestures, technology for determining the level of passenger stress and much more. Most likely, the lion’s share of these innovations will be transferred to production models in ten or twenty years, but even now the minivan looks like a very attractive solution.
