Audi introduced the last car with V10: only electric sports cars will follow

Despite all the difficulties, the car market is gradually and very actively conquered by electric vehicles – they are the future of the automotive industry. And it’s not just about urban crossovers and stable sedans – electrification has reached sports cars, no matter how strange it may sound. For example, last year, Audi officially announced that it plans to release a special farewell version of the R8 supercar on the V10 engine, and yesterday, October 4, this car was presented to the public. Yes, this is the last car of the brand on the V10 engine – further the company will produce sports cars and supercars exclusively on electric power plants.

The novelty was called the Audi R8 V10 GT RWD and is based on a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, which was boosted from 570 to 620 horsepower. Actually, although the car is built on rear-wheel drive, it has the power of an all-wheel drive R8 V10 Performance quattro model, which in certain scenarios will be a significant bonus. For example, drift fans will definitely like a powerful motor – plus the manufacturer has implemented a special drift mode called Torque Rear, which boasts seven different settings. Also, the new supercar received an improved gearshift system based on the “robot” with seven steps – this gearbox should work as quickly as possible.

In order to emphasize the uniqueness of the Audi R8 V10 GT RWD, the company’s designers did a good job on the body. For example, the new supercar weighs 20 kilograms less than the R8 Coupe V10 Performance RWD, plus the novelty comes with 20-inch forged wheels from the factory, “shod” in Michelin Sport Cup 2 sports tires. Special sports ceramic brakes are also located there, and on the body you can see a whole set of various decorative elements made of carbon fiber, which are designed to improve the aerodynamics of the vehicle. The same carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic stabiliser, which is usually available as an option, comes as standard here.

Inside, you can see the black and red trim, which is a direct reference to the Audi R8 GT, which was released 12 years ago. But the main thing, of course, is speed – the new and, apparently, the last supercar on the V10 accelerates from standstill to hundreds in just 3.4 seconds, while it takes only 10.1 seconds to set the speed to 200 km / h, and the maximum speed the vehicle is 320 km/h. True, not everyone will be able to buy a unique car of its kind – a total of 333 supercars will be assembled at a cost of 225 thousand euros.
