Audi has unveiled the concept of a luxury electric vehicle of the future – the Audi Skysphere luxury roadster. As the company explains, this is “Audi’s new vision of progressive luxury.”

One of the highlights of the car is the variable wheelbase. Electric motors and the mechanism that controls the body and frame elements allow changing the wheelbase and overall length of the vehicle by 250 millimeters. At the same time, the ground clearance is adjusted within 10 millimeters.
In Sport mode with a reduced wheelbase, the 4.94-meter electric roadster is enhanced with agility by steering the rear axle.
In autonomous driving, Skysphere becomes a 5.19-meter high-comfort electric vehicle with maximum legroom and additional services of an integrated digital ecosystem. In this mode, the steering wheel and pedals are hidden in a special niche. The driver can select the driving mode by pressing a button.
The Audi Skysphere is driven by an electric motor mounted on the rear axle. Power – 465 kW (632 hp), torque – 750 Nm. As a result, the 1,800 kilogram roadster accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in just four seconds.
