AU Optronics showcased two new OLED display prototypes at SID Displayweek 2021 these days.
The first is a 4K 32-inch inkjet panel. It supports 144Hz refresh rate.
The second prototype is a 5.6-inch AMOLED display that can be rolled up. This display is double-sided, that is, images are displayed on both sides.
AUO started mass production of OLED panels back in August 2014, with a focus on displays for wearable electronic devices and virtual reality headsets. AUO’s manufacturing capacity is relatively small and limited to a line at the Gen-4.5 facility in Singapore. In May 2019, it was reported that AUO plans to build a 6th generation OLED inkjet production line, but the source claims that these plans have not materialized yet.
