Austin Butler was cast to star in the new film Darren Aronofsky director known for titles such as “Requiem for a Dream” (2000), “Black Swan” (2010) and “The whale” (2022).
“Caught Stealing” is based on the book of the same name by Charlie Huston and accompanies a former baseball player, who unwittingly plunges into a savage fight for survival in the criminal underworld of 1990s New York City.
“I’m excited to be joining my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie’s adrenaline-filled rollercoaster ride to life. I can’t wait to start working with Austin and my family of New York filmmakers,” said the nominated director.
“Darren is one of the world's most brilliant audiovisual storytellers, and adapting these wonderful Charlie Huston books for Austin to star in was too exciting an opportunity not to be a part of,” said Sony Pictures' Motion Picture Group President Sanford Panitch.
Austin Butler has been a recurring name in the film industry in recent years after starring in “Elvis “, a film that earned him an Oscar nomination.
Since then, the actor has starred in titles such as “Dune: Part 2“ , “Masters of the Air“ , “Vandals Club” which premieres this June, and has also been cast in Adi Aster's new film, “Eddington “.
