We are pleased to think that, if there is an afterlife, Elvis Presley, the god of rock ‘n’ roll that he is, is probably giving his blessing to Austin Butler. It is through him that, in fact, he returns to live at the cinema in Elvis by Buz Luhrmann, from 22 June in the hall.
Thirty years old, American, several TV series behind him (including The Carrie Diaries), but also a part in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino (which frankly we did not remember), the young actor is now referred to as therising star of US cinema.
On the screen he plays the not simple role of one of the most impressive legends of the last century who has changed not only the history of music but also that of costume. In the film, through the dresses made by Miuccia Prada she relives the myth from the 50s to the 70s, from pink suits to Fifties cuffed shirts and trousers, from leather jackets to the glittering Las Vegas style outfits of the last period.
In reality Austin Butler has a style that is conquering, red carpet after red carpet, more and more points. Elegant and absolutely cool. Maybe we should have paid more attention to this guy when at the Los Angeles premiere of Tarantino’s film he looked flawless in a dark Brijuni suit, obscuring, bold to say but that’s it, even Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio in terms of charm.
Charm which he demonstrated during Elvis’ promotional tour. Considering he is bringing one of rock’s greatest (and best dressed) icons to the cinema, the pressure on him was high as they waited for his own. red carpet look. But the boy has definitely exceeded expectations without ever exceeding in rhinestones and sequins, indeed. His style has proved to be what he has always exhibited even in pre-Elvis: minimalist but with stylish details capable of raising the level of all her outfits.
Wise vintage references to 50’s Presley style, the less opulent one, made up of shirts with large collars, dark high-waisted trousers, blazers combined with tank tops, boots with a Cuban heel.
For the film’s presentation at the latest Cannes Film Festival, Butler wore a double-breasted Celine tuxedo, complete with a black bow tie, elegant patent leather shoes and a flower brooch (a purple forget-me-not) that added just the right pop touch.
As for sense of fashionin short, the actor is also proving to be at the height of girlfriend, Kaia Gerber with whom he has been a couple for several months, after having had a long relationship with Vanessa Hudgens. With Cindy Crawford’s daughter he appeared at the Met Gala, beautiful in Prada, always minimalist chic, while in Croisette together they gave the flashes and the world passionate kisses.
Less is more for Austin Butler who, faithful to dark or natural shades (the only exception being denim) since the beginning of his career, walks the path of fame with his classic but absolutely cool and contemporary style.
