Speaking at an informal meeting of NATO and European Union defense ministers on German soil, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin praised the “value and skills” of the Ukrainian armed forces, adding that their defense of the homeland would written in history.
Retired General Austin said the strength of the Ukrainian resistance had given the North Atlantic Alliance time to provide equipment and support to Ukraine.
The US Secretary of State also said that Russia was committing “indefensible atrocities” and that the war was a “challenge to free people around the world”.
Mr Austin said the meeting would create a framework for providing assistance to Ukraine in order for the latter to win the war, but also for supporting the country when the war is over.
