Australia: A man who had been vaccinated caught a coronavirus

A man was found positive for coronavirus in Australia, although he had been vaccinated.

He is a security guard who works in quarantine hotels in Sydney and had given the first dose of Pfizer vaccine.

The security guard performed a scheduled test to monitor the health of employees in quarantine hotels, as well as a second repeat. He tested positive in both, although asymptomatic. His close relatives are so far negative.

New South Wales Health Minister Brad Hazzard said the guard gave the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on March 2 and was due to receive a second dose this week.

“As we always say, vaccination helps but does not necessarily prevent you from catching the virus,” Hazzard said.
