Australia – Coronavirus: Pandemic outbreak worsens despite lockdown in Sydney

THE Australia announced today the largest daily increase in cases of Covid-19 recorded in 2021, in an outbreak of the pandemic of the new coronavirus attributed to the rapid spread of the variant Delta executives of the new coronavirus in Sydney despite the fact that the largest city in the country is entering third week on schedule lockdown.

Australia’s most populous state, New South Wales, reported 112 new outbreaks, almost all in Sydney, on the fifth consecutive day of a record number of cases.

However, there was encouragement as the latest infections were outside the community while the number of infections dropped to 34, from 45 on Sunday.

THE Prime Minister of New South Wales, Gladys Beretziklian said that the course of this number in the next few days will determine whether to extend the lockdown in Sydney, which is expected to end on Friday.

“This is the number we need to get as close to zero as possible,” Beretziklian said.

As he said, most of the cases in the last 24 hours were family members or close friends of already infected people.

The measures lockdown in Sydney were tightened over the weekend, restricting residents from moving 10km from their home for exercise. The outdoor gatherings are limited to two people and only one person per household can leave home daily to buy basic necessities.
