Australia: Surfing legend Chris Davidson dead – Died after fight

Dead after attack his former champion fell outside a pub surfing Chris Davidson, in New South Wales at Australia. According to police who were called on Saturday night to Sportsmans Way in South West Rocks. 45-year-old surfing legend Chris Davidson was punched in the face causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement.

Officers found him unconscious and he was taken to Kempsey Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The police proceeded to arrest one 42-year-old on Sunday morning. He appeared before the judicial authorities, but was not given the possibility to be released on bail, reports the BBC.

Chris Davidson was a member of the Rip Curl Search team in the early 1990s. Davidson was employed as professional surfer in 2010 and 2011 and the news of his death has caused affliction in the place.

Surfing Australia reports that the sport’s community is mourning the loss of “Davo”, as he was known. “Davo was one extremely talented surfer and a true personality at sport and our community. Our thoughts are with his two children, friends and family at this time.”
