The coronavirus shows a great outbreak in India, with Australia taking action for travelers from the country, suspending all direct passenger flights until 15 May.
His new cases coronavirus in India remained today for the sixth consecutive day over 300,000. Authorities also said they had recorded 2,771 new deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. However, health experts believe that the report is much higher, as noted by AMPE.
The Prime Minister of the State of Western Australia, Mark McGowan, has stated that he “feels very much for India at this time”, but called on the Australian Federal Government to suspend flights from that country, after the registration in the state of 4 new cases and in all cases were travelers who returned from India and are in quarantine.
“For India, there needs to be a moratorium. There is huge pressure now on all our quarantine facilities as a result of those coming from India,” McGowan told reporters in Perth.
Last week the Australia announced that it will reduce the number of its citizens who will be able to return to the country from India and other countries in the red zone to avoid the risk of spreading more contagious strains of the new coronavirus.
Australia has closed its borders to non-citizens and permanent residents since March to prevent the spread of the disease. All travelers returning to the country must comply two-week quarantine at a hotel at their own expense.
The quarantine system has greatly helped Australia keep pandemic cases and death tolls low. So far, the total number of people infected with the new coronavirus in the country is less than 29,700 and the death toll from COVID-19 at 910.
