More than a third of people over the age of 16 have been vaccinated with the first dose
More than a third of people in Austria over the age of 16, that is, more than 2.5 million out of a total population of 8.9 million, have already been vaccinated so far, at least with the first dose of vaccine against Covid-19, announced today the Austrian Minister of Health and Social Services Wolfgang Mukstein.
Vaccination rates are “steadily increasing” due to growing vaccine deliveries and “yesterday, Thursday, we reached a new daily record for the first time by vaccinating more than 90,000 people in Austria, with the average seven-day vaccination being above today from 55,000 “, he states.
In the coming weeks, there will be more vaccinations at younger ages and in addition, vaccinations will start in companies, the Minister of Health notes, advising everyone to keep the dates for their second vaccination.
Earlier, the Federal Chancellery in Vienna had announced that Half of those who wanted to be vaccinated against coronavirus have received the first partial vaccination to date and, according to the data from the electronic vaccination certificate, 50% is also achieved among citizens over the age of 50.
The Federal Chancellery expects that about two-thirds of the population that can be vaccinated against coronavirus will be vaccinated, as, for example, children are still excluded and therefore the expected number is five million.
According to Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz, this progress in vaccinations also leads to a significant improvement in the pandemic situation and the goal of being able to offer the first vaccination to anyone who wants it by the end of June will be achieved.
