Austria, prohibits from tomorrow, Thursday, the landing for direct flights from India, announced today in Vienna the Minister of Health Wolfgang Mukstein, on the sidelines of the weekly meeting of the Austrian Cabinet.
Anyone who has visited India in the last ten days must be quarantined after entering Austria, and this is done to prevent the spread of its variant coronavirus (B.1.617), which seems to be out of control in India.
The one who will enter Austria through transfer flights and has been in India for the last ten days must be quarantined for ten days, while, after five days, it will be possible for a free test to come out of quarantine, but only a PCR test and no longer an antigen test, transmits the APE-MPE.
This applies to both Austrians and other persons residing in Austria, and if one does not live in Austria, one must take a negative PCR test before traveling.
They do not exist at the moment scheduled flights from India to Austria, however, it also seeks to ban private and charter flights and to prevent alternative flights to circumvent landing bans in other EU countries.
The B.1.617 variant of the virus is a combination of mutations from Britain and South Africa, and it is not yet clear whether this form is comparatively more contagious and deadly.
In Austria, landing bans from South Africa and Brazil are in force until 2 May, which will now also be extended.
