Austria: One in nine citizens has been immunized against the coronavirus

Over one million, namely 1,001,839 people, have so far been fully immunized in Austria (with a total population of 8.9 million inhabitants) against the coronavirus, according to the Electronic Vaccination Record. This happened either taking two doses of vaccine, or one of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which requires only one vaccination.

This means that 11.3% of the Austrian population has full vaccination protection, while at least one vaccine dose has already been given to 2,749,793 people, number corresponding to 30.9% of the population.

The majority of those fully immunized received the two doses of Biontech / Pfizer – necessary for complete vaccination protection – a total of 833,509 people, 118,352 people who wanted to be vaccinated were vaccinated twice with Moderna, 42,615 received the two doses of Astra As of yesterday, Tuesday, 7,363 people had received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, of which only one dose is sufficient.

In a statement today, Austrian Health Minister Wolfgang Mukstein – who comes from the Greens in the coalition government with Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz’s People’s Party – spoke of a “significant milestone in the exit from the pandemic”.

At the same time, he called on all people living in Austria to “keep the second vaccination appointment, because only a full vaccination offers long-term protection”, while, in relation to virus variants, he pointed out that current studies show a good protective effect after two vaccinations.

Vaccinations started in Austria at the end of last December, and about 19 weeks later, more than 3,744 million doses of the vaccine have been given, and last week alone there were 443,746 immunizations.

As regards the nine L κραnder of Austria, The vaccination coverage rate is the highest – at least one dose was given – in Burgenland at 35.4%, in Vorarlberg 34.5% of the population has been vaccinated at least once, in Tyrol 34.1%.

They are followed by Carinthia (33.8%), Upper Austria (30.7%), Salzburg (30.2%), Styria (29.9%), Lower Austria (29.7%), while Vienna, which is also one of the nine L .nder, lags far behind, with a vaccination rate of 28.1%.

Most of the country’s fully immunized population is in Tyrol, where 15.7% of the population has full vaccination protection and this is due to the fact that Tyrol had received a special quota with an additional 100,000 doses of the Pfizer / Biontech vaccine from in the EU, while in Lower Austria 14.2% are fully protected.

The fewest residents who are fully immunized are in the state of Styria, where so far only 8.6% have received both required doses or a single vaccination with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
