Austria: Prosecutors demand lifting of Sebastian Kurtz’s immunity

The investigations directed against him Sebastian Kurtz will be suspended until the country’s parliament decides on immunity of the Member, who has stated that he will resign from it himself.

Officially announced by Vienna on Friday, Austrian prosecutors have applied for the waiver of the former chancellor’s immunity Austria.

Parliament is called to decide on the lifting of its immunity in one of its next sittings, writes the dpa agency. Until, therefore, the relevant decision is taken, the investigation against the 35-year-old conservative politician is suspended, according to the information of the Prosecutor’s Office of Economy and Corruption.

The Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) parliamentary group, led by Kurtz, greeted the fact, because it will soon be possible to refute the accusations against him, as they say.

It is recalled that last week the Economy and Corruption Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against the 35-year-old conservative politician for infidelity, bribery and corruption. The same resigned from barracks on Saturday.

The group about the former chancellor reportedly secured his rise to the top of ÖVP and government through embellished polls and positive media reports which he bought with money and taxpayers from 2016, according to the indictment.
