The producer Frayed Pages of Anna Todd author of the franchise “After” will be responsible for adapting “If It Wasn’t For You” of Colleen Hoover for cinemas, the writer announced on social media this Tuesday (27).
“Four years in the making, I am so proud and excited to announce that my production company Frayed Pages is producing the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s ‘If It Wasn’t For You.’ We have an incredible team, featuring the incredibly talented director of ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ (pinch me), and we have assembled a dream cast that I can’t wait to work with on set!” Anna revealed.
“More news about my work as a producer is coming, but this is just the beginning,” she added.
Anna Todd rose to fame on Wattpad with the fanfic “After” which would later become a series of books and later films. She acted as a producer on the adaptations of her works and, in 2021, opened her own production company.
According to the Deadline article, shared by the author and producer on social media, “If It Wasn’t For You” will be starred by Allison Williams “(M3GAN”), McKenna Grace (“Ghostbusters: Afterlife”), Dave Franco (“Now You See Me”) and Mason Thames (“The Black Telephone”). The direction will be by Josh Boone (“The Fault in Our Stars“).
In the plot, Morgan and Clara Grant are mother and daughter, and apparently have nothing in common. Morgan got pregnant very young, at sixteen, and is determined to prevent her daughter from going through the same difficulties she faced. Clara does not want to follow in her mother’s footsteps and, at the height of her 16 years, her greatest desire is to go to university to study theater, even though her parents do not encourage her career.
With incompatible personalities and divergent goals, the coexistence between Morgan and Clara is becoming increasingly unsustainable. The only person capable of creating an environment of peace is Chris – Morgan’s husband, Clara’s father, and the family’s safe haven. But this peace is shattered after a tragic accident that completely changes both of their lives.
