The Vice President of Colombia, Francia Márquez, denounced, this Tuesday (10), an alleged attempt on her life.
Márquez said his security team would have found “explosives” on the road leading to his home in the town of Suárez, in Cauca.
“Members of my security team found an artifact with more than seven kilos of explosive material on the road leading to my family’s residence,” he wrote on Twitter.

The vice president added that specialists from the Colombian Police managed to destroy the alleged device in a controlled manner.
For his part, the police commander of the department of Cauca, José Ricardo Archila, stressed that it was thanks to a source in the authorities that the explosive device was found and deactivated.
The area of Cauca, Colombia, is known for the presence of armed groups. President Gustavo Petro took measures during his mandate to fight violence, which killed civilians and soldiers in the armed conflict.
