Authorities seek Arizona man accused of making threats against Trump

Authorities are searching for an Arizona man accused of making threats against former U.S. President Donald Trump, a Cochise County spokesman told the CNN .

Ronald Syvrud has threatened to kill Trump in several social media posts in recent weeks, according to public information officer Carol Capas. She declined to say on which platform the threats were made.

Trump’s team was briefed on authorities’ search for the man before the former president arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border for an event in the state, a source familiar with the matter told CNN .

The 66-year-old man is wanted on several outstanding warrants stemming from charges of driving under the influence, hit-and-run and sexual assault, according to a statement Thursday (22) on the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

Syvrud lives in Benson, Arizona, a city about 50 miles southeast of Tucson, the statement added.

It’s unclear if Syvrud is still in Cochise County and the Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help in locating him.

Trump was in Cochise County giving a speech at the border.

THE CNN contacted local authorities for more details.

U.S. Secret Service spokeswoman Alexandria Worley said the agency “investigates all threats against our protected personnel.”

“As this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot comment further at this time,” Worley said.
