Average price of diesel oil reaches R$ 6.93 and reaches record, says ANP

The average price of diesel oil in the country reached R$ 6,943 and reached the highest nominal value of the historical series, initiated by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) in 2004. The value comprises the period from 15 to 21 of May 2022 and does not consider the values of S 10 diesel oil, which was included in the ANP surveys only from 2013 onwards.

The difference between these two types of fuel lies in the amount of sulfur present in the composition. S500 diesel oil has a maximum permitted sulfur content of 500 mg/kg, while S10 has a maximum permitted sulfur content of 10 mg/kg.

The most expensive diesel was found in Acre, at R$8.30. The cheapest was found in Paraná, at R$ 5,490.

The Ministry of Economy presented last Thursday (19) to the National Council for Finance Policy (Confaz) a proposal to change the regulation of the single ICMS on diesel, created by law in March this year and regulated by the collegiate, but suspended last week. passed by injunction of the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court André Mendonça.

By the proposal, the government wants that, while the change does not occur, the basis for calculating the current rate is the moving average of the average prices charged to the final consumer in the 60 months (five years) prior to its establishment.

Before the suspension determined by the Supreme Court, the rule that was in effect fixed a single ICMS amount to be charged in the final price of fuel, as required by law, but allowing discounts, which in practice allowed each State to maintain the same rate that applied previously.

The value established by the collegiate state secretaries was R$ 1.006 per liter of S10 diesel oil, the most used in the country.
