Avril Lavigne turns 40; remember your main hits

The singer Avril Lavigne turns 40 this Friday (27th) and, despite having started her musical career in 2002, the artist continues to be a milestone in pop-punk music. Among his biggest hits are “Complicated”, “Girlfriend” and “Sk8er Boi”, the latter being a single from his first studio album “Let Go”.

Her first album was released in 2002, when the singer was just 16 years old. After 20 years, in 2022, the album also received a special edition with “Let Go 20th Anniversary”, which included four new tracks plus the hit “Breakway”, known in the voice of Kelly Clarkson, but was written and recorded by Avril Lavigne.

In addition to selling around 50 million albums worldwide, the Canadian received eight Grammy nominations in categories such as “Best New Artist” and “Song of the Year”.

Another curiosity is that Avril holds a Guinness World Record for “the youngest solo female artist to top the UK chart”, while “Girlfriend” emerged as “the first music video to reach 100 million views on YouTube”.
