Created by the AfternoonTea.co.uk platform, which specializes in afternoon tea bookings in the United Kingdom, the 2024 edition was revealed at the end of March and crowned the three best establishments in the nation in three different categories, including “Best Traditional Afternoon Tea ”; “Best Contemporary Afternoon Tea ” and the “Best Themed Afternoon Tea ”.
An “award of excellence” recognizing the best afternoon tea services was also presented to 19 venues in London and around the UK. All winners receive a plaque with the distinction. Best afternoon teas
All three “best tea” winners are located inside luxury hotels in the British capital. O The Beaumont Hotel in Mayfair, won best in the “Best Traditional Afternoon Tea ”, which serves teas, sandwiches, sweets and pastries for £70 (around R$445), as well as a vegan option and a selection of champagne.
O “Best Contemporary Afternoon Tea ” went to LIKE The Halkin , a boutique hotel near Hyde Park that prepares meals according to the brand's well-being principles, with many raw ingredients and a “farm to table” concept. It costs £55 (around R$350).
Finally, the “Best Themed Afternoon Tea ” went to The Waldorf Hilton , in Covent Garden, which served an afternoon tea last winter under the theme of “Beauty and the Beast” complete with sweets and crockery reminiscent of the story immortalized by Disney. A regular afternoon tea, without the theme, is served at the hotel for £59.
Excellence Award
Of the 19 addresses that won the Excellence Award this year, only four are outside London, three in cities in England and one in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland.
Among the highlights is the afternoon tea at Brown's Hotel , the oldest hotel in London, which today operates under the Rocco Forte Hotels label. Tea costs from £75 (around R$477) and is served in the The Drawing Room lounge with piano in the afternoons.
Also on the list is the Jurassic Afternoon Tea, a dinosaur-themed afternoon tea served in the The Ampersand Hotel . The experience costs £37.50 (around R$238) and imitates a volcanic eruption and even has a basket with “dinosaur eggs”. The hotel was also distinguished in the same category with another themed tea, this time under the theme of science.
