Awarded at SAG, the cast of “Conclave” wishes improvements to Pope Francis

The cast of the movie “Conclave” sent vows of improvements to Pope Francis, who remains critical at the hospital. The feature – whose plot focuses on the election of a new pontiff – won the prestigious best cast prize at the 31st edition of Screen Actors Guild (SAG Awards) on Sunday night (23).

During the ceremony, the actors took the opportunity to talk about the health of the 88 -year -old Catholic Church world leader, who is fighting double pneumonia.

Italian actress Isabella Rossellini, 72, was one of the first to demonstrate her solidarity with the Pontiff. “First, we would like to wish Pope Francis a quick recovery.”

Later, at a press conference with the winners, Isabella clarified that even she and her scenemate, Italian actor Sergio Castellitto, 71, can only speculate about what happens behind the scenes of the mysterious process.

“In our movie, we explored the election of a new Pope, who is very confined and occurs inside the Vatican, in the beautiful room that was painted by Michelangelo, the Sistine Chapel, which we reproduced. As Italians, we are more familiar, perhaps more than foreigners, with the church’s internal debate, which is very close to the discussions present in any society: the role of gays, conservatives, progressives, women. So Sergio and I was perhaps more familiar than all of you, but we don’t know what really happens during the conclave. The film reveals the possible debates. ”

Sergio praised the importance of the Pope figure to the Italians. “For us who live in Rome, living a few meters from the Pope means having a much more intimate relationship. We see the helicopter coming out and we think, ‘Ah, the Pope is leaving today and soon it will come back!’ Thus, our relationship, like Italians, with the Pope is much closer. I repeat: I wish him very well. ”

Francisco was admitted to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome on February 14, after presenting respiratory difficulties. In a statement issued by the Vatican on Sunday, the condition of the Holy Father was confirmed as criticism.

The official bulletin said: “The condition of the Holy Father remains critical; However, since last night there has been no respiratory crisis. He was subjected to two blood transfusions that had benefits. The number of platelets remained stable; However, some blood tests show mild initial renal failure, which is under control. High flow oxygen therapy through continuous nasal pipes. The Holy Father follows vigilant and well oriented. The complexity of the clinical picture and the waiting necessary for pharmacological therapies to give some return to make the prognosis be reserved. In the morning, in the apartment installed on the 10th floor, he participated in the Holy Mass in the company of those who accompany him during the days of hospitalization. ”
