Since July 6, when both the General and the banking index were at year lows, the gains amount to 15% for the former and 33% for the latter.
The General Index has now covered the losses recorded since the beginning of this year, presenting an opposite picture in relation to the major international indices whose losses since the beginning of the year exceed 10%.
In the middle of last week, the General Index on the Athens Stock Exchange erased the losses recorded since the beginning of the year. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq technology index, since the beginning of 2022, is down 17.11% (based on last Thursday’s close), the DAX-30 is down 13.77%, the S&P-500 is down 10, 12%, the Cac-40 is down 8.33% and the Dow Jones is down 6.44%.

The driver of the recovery from the lows was the banking shares, with the banking index gaining 32.96%.
The share of Piraeus recorded the biggest increase at 38.90%, followed by Eurobank with an increase of 35.43%, Alpha Bank with gains of 34.57%, while the share of National Bank increased by 26.17%.
