Axios: The White House considers Europe undermines the end of war in Ukraine

Senior White House officials believe that some European leaders, while publicly supporting Donald Trump in an effort to finish the war in Ukraine, are backstage the progress achieved after the Alaska Summit, according to an exclusive report. At the heart of Europe, the White House has asked the US Treasury to write a list of possible sanctions that Europe could impose against Russia. Two weeks after the Trump -Putin meeting, there has been no tangible progress and, as the president’s associates argue, responsibility burdens the European allies, not Trump or even Putin himself. US officials complain that Europe’s leaders are encouraging Kiev to insist on unrealistic demands for territorial concessions from Russia.
