The supreme leader of Iran, Mr Ayatollah Ali Khameneitoday accused the US of “somehow running” it Israeli businesses against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
“The US is unquestionably complicit in the crimes” being committed in Gaza, Khamenei said in a speech from Tehran.
They have “on their hands (…) the blood of the oppressed, the children, the sick, women and others,” he added on the 19th day of the war between the Palestinian movement Hamas, which controls Gaza, and Israel.
According to Khamenei, “the USA are somehow directing the crimes being committed in Gaza.”
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi had accused the US on October 18, the day when US President Joe Biden visited Israel, of being “complicit in the crimes” of Israel, as reported by Agence France-Presse and relayed by Agence France-Presse.
On October 10, Khamenei had denied that his country was involved in the attack launched by Hamas on October 7 against Israel, but underlined Tehran’s support for “Palestine”.
The ayatollah estimated today that “the Palestinian nation” will emerge “winning” from the conflict. “The future world is that of Palestine, not that of the Zionist regime,” he stressed.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken issued a stern warning to Tehran on Tuesday, saying the US would respond “decisively” to any attack launched by “Iran and those who work with it” in the Middle East.
